Wordless Wednesday - new site for me - post a photo that doesn't need an explanation !
This morning I started making pics at 7:00 AM. The early morning light of the sun coming through the trees at that time until around 8:00 AM is my fave time to make pics.
Since I grow many kinds of flowers, making their pics comes easy and it's fun. My camera is through an iPhone that makes good pics...no micros but decent pics ! It is amazing and marvelous to go out each morning just to see what is blooming and how everything is thriving despite the dreadful 100 deg temps for about 14 days consecutively.
God made this universe, our earth, moon, stars, sun and all therein. In these early morning times of photographing His creations, I am awed and amazed of the beauty and unique characteristics of each plant and flower !
Blessings to all,
Sheri

A Spiritually Vigorous Saint
A Spiritually Vigorous Saint
Have you considered whether or not you are a vigorous saint ? I hadn't completely realized this until reading a devotional by Oswalt Chambers. Mr. Chambers writings challenge me to the depths of my soul.
"Self-realization only leads to the glorification of good works, whereas a saint of God glorifies Jesus Christ through his good works. Whatever we may be doing ---even eating, drinking, or washing disciples' feet ---we have to take the initiative of realizing and recognizing Jesus Christ in it. Every phase of our life has it's counterpart in the life of Jesus. Our Lord realized His relationship to the Father even in the most menial task." Oswald Chambers.
Reflecting and pondering concepts by Mr. Chambers enforces my faith to a deeper level. I am not here on this earth for 'self-realization' but to truly know Jesus Christ, as my Savior, friend, brother, and confidant.

The spiritually vigorous saint's aim is to know and realize that Jesus Christ is in every set of circumstances !
How often do I 'stop-think-pray' and acknowledge that Jesus is in there, right beside me, fighting the battle... rejoicing with me when He reveals..you are blessed because you are a daughter of the King ! He walks and talks with me as each day unfolds. What greater gift is this ?

My Favorite Things
07.03.2011
Early this morning, as I sat on the patio, surrounded by some of my favorite things I pondered...deep spiritual things..
I prayed, read a devotion for the day along with today's devotion from 'My Utmost for His Highest', and thanked God for the freedom of living in the United States of America. I've reached that age that I don't take this lightly and for granted. I realize that many people in our armed forces gave their lives for such as we have in this country. On the eve of our country's celebration of Freedom, July 4, 2011, I reflect...and I wonder...
How long will God continue to bless this country ? Only He knows. It has become clear in my mind that America has drifted far from our Godly heritage that made this country great. Look around, what do we see and hear from the world and media ?
I believe that God is a loving God but a jealous God. He wants his people who are called by His name, to repent, come forward, and make a stand for Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives. Material things don't last nor do they satisfy. America is guilty of collecting more and more material things. God wants us to collect the things that last. A solid relationship with Him, a stable loving based on Christ's example relationship with our husband/wife, a secure and loving relationship with our kids and grand kids. He wants His own to have relationships with each other built through the body of Christ.
Think about it...the only 'things' we take to heaven with us are our relationships. God/Jesus. Family. Friends. Nothing else. Sobering thought. Wake up America and return to your first love...God...who made you and loves you as no other. He wants you for His own.

"Suppose" a wonderful story/poem/devotion written by Judy Janowski, guest post for today ~06.27.2011

| (Sheri from TX asked me to share this one so that she can share it on her blog. God bless you abundantly, Sheri.) Who do you supose eats soap? Do you know? There's a bar of soap under the rose said to keep away deer and other foes which has been chewed - perhaps by a mole or maybe a little black vole. Whoever it was came when I dozed perhaps on little black pointed toes to eat what grows in planted rows. It seems whoever towed the soap under the red rose. Maybe it was a rabbit with little brown toes? It could have been a woodchuck? Do you know? I have another guess as last night the wind blowed an odious scent into the open window. This stink did not smell at all like a rose. Who was it that eats soap do you suppose? Yes, it was a skunk, whoa! Quite a stink arose, you know. Did eating soap get rid of BO? That answer would be definitely "No"! Soap is for washing, not for eating, you know. No one taught this to the skunk, I suppose. This little story of foes - of bucks and does and moles and voles, of rabbits and woodchucks with brown toes and black and white skunks with black toes now must come to a close. Be sure to wash between your toes. (That's what soap's for, you know.) * * * * * No one ever said to you, I hope, "you need your mouth washed out with soap" when you said a bad word that you may have heard. It's not only the individual words we need to watch. We also need to watch the object of words that stem from our thoughts. Are you harboring bitterness toward someone who once was amiss? Are you given to rage and anger and have no control over a temper? Does gossip and slander take place instead of the quietness of grace? Do you lack compassion? Is it an absent action? Perhaps there's no room for genuine compassion because your heart is filled with aggravation. Perhaps you feel you cannot forgive so with heartache you choose to live. The answer to your heartache is found in Christ's example. It's 'forgive as Christ has forgiven you' - it's that simple. Replace bitterness with forgiveness. Simply be quick to forgive in order to truly live. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32 | |

Austin turns 20 today - June 23, 2011
Today is Austin's 20 Birthday ! He is a young man with a bright future! He is our first born grandchild ! He is awesome ! Austin has lived in San Diego CA most of his life ! He is an avid sports fan ! He is a natural born athlete ! Austin loves to play basketball, his sport of choice ! He loves Jesus, his parents, his grandparents, his uncles and aunts, cousins, and a certain young lady ! Austin brings great joy to his grandparents in Texas !
Last spring he came to Texas and enrolled in McLennan Community College ! He had a 4.0 GPA at the end of the semester ! He worked part time for Target while attending college. He loves Baylor University Lady Bear Basketball. He went to the home games ! He and his Grandad went to the Quarter Finals, Big 12, BU Women's Basketball to watch Baylor lady bears play and WIN ! In San Antonio, Texas !
I miss having Austin around this past year but have treasured memories ! He taught me to like 'American Idol !' He taught me that 19 year olds like their privacy and time alone !
He taught me things about my computer that are invaluable ! He taught me how important it was for him to text and receive texts from his friends at home ! He taught me how to slow down and watch a fave TV show with him.
Lots of intangible things Austin taught me ! Intangibles can't be explained...they are special and many times spiritual ! God gave me a great gift when Austin came to live in our home for four months !
